How This Tier List Works
Elden Ring offers extraordinary build variety — melee, ranged, magic, faith, bleed, poison, and dozens of hybrid combinations. This tier list ranks the most common build archetypes (not specific weapons) based on their effectiveness, ease of execution, damage ceiling, and survivability. Rankings consider both PvE (boss fights, open world) and PvP (invasions, arenas).
Tiers run from S (dominant, minimal weaknesses) down to C (functional but outclassed).

S-Tier Deep Dive
Bleed/Arcane — The Consistent King
Bleed remains one of the most reliable damage sources in the game. The hemorrhage proc deals a percentage of the enemy's maximum HP, making it extraordinary against high-health bosses where flat damage builds struggle to keep pace. Arcane scaling amplifies both bleed buildup and physical damage on the right weapons, creating a synergistic package that's difficult to match.
Why it's S-tier: Percentage-based damage, strong weapon selection, scales well into late game, works on the vast majority of bosses.

Dexterity builds offer superior attack speed and reach on the best katanas and curved swords, with strong Ashes of War options. Faith builds shine as hybrids, combining respectable melee with powerful incantations for bossing.
What About Hybrid Builds?
Many experienced players run hybrids — Intelligence/Faith, Strength/Arcane, Dexterity/Intelligence. These can be extremely powerful at high Soul Memory levels but require more stat investment to come online.
